Mama's Christmas List
Dear Santa,
It’s been a while. I know some people don’t believe in you, but it doesn’t matter. You are important to my child. She wrote you a letter but you probably haven’t seen one from me in over decade. Well, I haven’t been the nicest girl in 2010 but I promise you I have been an amazing mother. Every year, things get better for us as we accomplish so many new and awesome things. But of course, you know that - you’re always watching.
Anyway, I’ll cut to the chase. The only thing on my list this year is genuine bliss through my child. I have a Christmas list for her and I’m hoping that over the years, you can bring them to her if I am unable.
- Please let her always feel stable in her home.
- Please give her the courage to explore new things and stray from the norm without fear of rejection.
- Please provide her with strength to proceed with whatever dreams she creates for herself.
- Please give her the intelligence to move forward in life and reach the top.
- Please give her the pride to know she came from a loving, single, young parent home.
And Santa, I have a special request for all the young parents out there. I know how alone I felt during the first couple of years and I remember how much I cried. I never knew what the future held for me and I feared tomorrow. Help me remind them that everything is temporary. Allow them to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Guide them to the right direction by fighting for whatever their child deserves. Persuade them to push a little bit harder and try doing things they were told they could never do. Let them show everyone that one mistake did not lead to a lifetime of sorrow. Help the rest of the world see that we shouldn’t be used as examples – that we are not walking public service announcements. Give them the peace of mind they deserve.
Thanks, Santa.
Best,
Natasha
